On September 12, the crew of the Polaris Dawn mission launched the first non-astronaut into space. The company that organizes the SpaceX mission, owned by Elon Musk, announced this on its X social network account, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
The Polaris Dawn team worked at an altitude of about 700 kilometers. The first non-professional astronaut in history to travel into space was billionaire Jared Isaacman. He is the mission director and one of the investors in the Polaris program.
"We have a lot of work to do at home, but from here Earth looks like a wonderful world," he said.
Isaacman was followed by SpaceX astronaut training specialist Sarah Gillis. Later they returned safely to the spacecraft.
