Foreign athletes will be prohibited from being funded by the state budget, reports the “Adyrna” national portal.
New regulations have now been proposed regarding the funding of professional sports from state budget funds. According to the draft law, funding limits will be set by the state for the maintenance of professional clubs. According to the ministry, this measure will improve the efficiency of budget expenditures.
In addition, the draft law includes another change: a ban on financing athletes who are not citizens of Kazakhstan from the state budget and from the funds of entities in the quasi-public sector. This measure ensures that citizens of Kazakhstan are given priority in both sports and financial support.
“These changes will streamline management in the sports sector and enable more efficient use of financial resources. We are focusing on high-performance sports and aim to make the professional sports funding system stable and fair,” said Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yerbol Myrzabosynov.
