President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Witold Bańka, President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), on October 15, according to the Akorda press service, reports Adyrna.

The Head of State emphasized that the World Anti-Doping Agency plays a key role as a global institution in combating doping in sports. He noted that Witold Bańka’s visit to Astana marks an important step in expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and WADA.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the Agency’s firm stance in consistently fighting violations and promoting unified standards of clean sport — an issue that is relevant not only to athletes but also to millions of fans around the world.

Today, the Anti-Doping Testing Laboratory operates under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan — the only institution of its kind in Central Asia. A Regional Anti-Doping Organization also functions based on this laboratory, bringing together countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Afghanistan.

WADA President Witold Bańka expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for supporting the Agency’s initiatives and noted the high level of cooperation with the country’s sports institutions.

During the meeting, President Tokayev and Witold Bańka reaffirmed their commitment to continuing long-term cooperation and strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a responsible and reliable partner of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
