China is ready for a trade war with the United States. This was stated by Liu Pengyu, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, reports Adyrna, citing RIA Novosti.
“When it comes to a trade war, China’s position is clear: if you want to fight, we will fight to the end. But if you want to talk, our door is open,” he said.
Pengyu described the actions of the U.S. as “an inappropriate way of interaction.” The embassy representative urged Washington to correct this mistake as soon as possible and to show sincerity in negotiations. He also emphasized the importance of resolving mutual concerns through dialogue and developing stable relations between the two countries.
“Cooperation benefits both sides, while confrontation harms both. Several rounds of previous trade and economic consultations have fully demonstrated that China and the United States can find solutions based on mutual respect and equality,” the diplomat added.
Last Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that starting from November 1, a 100% tariff would be imposed on goods imported from China. Later, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that Washington might delay the new tariffs to give both leaders a chance to resolve the issues. On Tuesday, China began imposing port fees on ships belonging to American companies and organizations.
