A KIA plant with an annual production capacity of 70,000 cars is set to be launched in Kostanay

President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev received the Akim of Kostanay Region, Kumar Aksakalov, reports Adyrna.

Kasym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the region’s socio-economic development in the first half of this year and its plans for the near future.

According to Kumar Aksakalov, the region’s industrial enterprises produced goods worth 1.82 trillion tenge, which is 4.3% higher compared to last year. Thirteen major investment projects worth 337 billion tenge are currently being implemented, creating more than 3,400 jobs.

Among the key projects is the upcoming launch of a KIA plant with an annual production capacity of 70,000 cars, which will create 1,500 new jobs. Another important project is the KamLit.KZ plant, which will produce drive axles for trucks, with an investment volume of 160.5 billion tenge and 550 jobs. In addition, work has begun on restoring the Arkalyk Airport.

The President was also informed that since the beginning of the year, 22 social facilities have been put into operation, and another 29 are expected to be commissioned by the end of the year.

As part of the modernization of housing and utilities, 54 projects related to water supply and sewage systems are being carried out in the region. Currently, 99% of urban residents and 91.3% of rural residents are connected to centralized water supply.

This year, 102 billion tenge has been allocated for the development of the region’s transport infrastructure, 40% more than in 2024. Construction, reconstruction, and major repairs are underway on 1,300 kilometers of roads, including seven national highways. The reconstruction of the Zhezkazgan–Petropavl section is nearing completion. The Kostanay–Mamlyut road has been fully renovated. Repairs continue on the Yekaterinburg–Almaty route, from Sarykol to the border of Akmola Region.

Special attention is being given to improving streets and roads in settlements. 29 billion tenge has been allocated to repair more than 400 streets in 103 villages, which is 2.5 times more than in 2022.

At the end of the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of further increasing investment, developing industry and the agricultural sector, modernizing social infrastructure, and improving the quality of life of residents.

Kasym-Jomart Tokayev instructed officials to complete preparations for the heating season on time, properly organize the autumn harvest campaign, and take systematic measures to improve rural residents’ access to drinking water.
