American actress and former UN Special Envoy for Refugees Angelina Jolie has visited Gaza, reports Adyrna, citing Agenzia Nova.
During her visit, she toured Al-Arish Hospital and the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing, where she met representatives of the Red Crescent and truck drivers delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Throughout her trip, the former UN refugee envoy was accompanied by North Sinai Governor Khaled Megawer. The governor visited the area to personally assess the condition of injured Palestinians receiving treatment in Egypt and to inspect the distribution of humanitarian aid at the border. The famous actress who accompanied him also gained firsthand insight into the situation faced by Palestinians.
During the visit, Jolie familiarized herself with how humanitarian aid is delivered to Gaza and toured facilities involved in receiving and distributing the aid. She also visited a hospital in Al-Arish, where she observed how wounded Palestinians are being treated.
At the Rafah checkpoint, the actress was shown the process of allowing humanitarian cargo into Gaza and the work of services coordinating aid delivery. The visit took place amid an ongoing severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
It is worth noting that Angelina Jolie had previously visited Ukraine as well, traveling to areas close to the front lines and meeting families living under wartime conditions.
