Albania has inaugurated an Artificial Intelligence Minister responsible for overseeing public procurement, Politico reported, according to “Adyrna.”
The minister’s name is Diella, which means “sun” in Albanian.
According to Prime Minister Edi Rama, decisions on state tenders will be handed over to an AI model as part of an effort to create a “100% anti-corruption procurement system.”
Diella has already been integrated into the government’s digital platform, which provides access to most public services.
“Sometimes, an AI without emotions really does a much better job than humans,” social media users noted.
