For the first time, Larry Ellison, co-founder and largest shareholder of American company Oracle, has been named the world’s richest person, surpassing Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, Adyrna reports citing Bloomberg.
The 81-year-old Ellison’s fortune surged by a record $101 billion in a single day due to nearly a 40% increase in Oracle’s stock price. As a result, his total wealth reached $393 billion, marking the largest one-day gain in the history of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Ellison owns 41% of Oracle shares and serves as the company’s board chairman and chief technology officer.
For comparison, Elon Musk’s current fortune is estimated at $385 billion.
