For the first time in Kazakhstan, a festival dedicated to kumis — “BaiQymyz” — was held. During the two-day cultural event, the public selected the most delicious kumis, reports Adyrna.
More than 50 kumis producers from across the country took part in the festival. A specially formed panel of judges evaluated the kumis from each participating farm and selected the best one. According to the festival results, the kumis from Sarzhal village in the Abai region was recognized as the “Best National Drink” and awarded a prize of 20 million tenge.
In addition to kumis tasting, the event featured a horse exhibition, presentations of traditional Kazakh breeds, a fair of horse tack, national sports competitions, artisan masterclasses, a scientific conference, and auctions.
