Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, has been stripped of his royal title and will leave his Royal Lodge residence. This was announced by Buckingham Palace, reports Adyrna.

According to the document, he will henceforth be known as “Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.”

The Palace stated that the King officially began the process of depriving Andrew of his titles and royal privileges yesterday. Previously, he had been living at the Royal Lodge residence.

“An official notice to terminate his lease agreement has been sent to Andrew. He will move to another privately owned residence. These measures were deemed necessary despite his denial of the charges against him,” the Palace’s statement said.

Recently, Andrew has faced strong public criticism due to his association with American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and convicted sex offenders Ghislaine Maxwell and Harvey Weinstein.

Earlier this year, new information revealed that in 2006, Andrew hosted Epstein, Maxwell, and Weinstein at his Royal Lodge residence during a celebration marking his daughter Princess Beatrice’s 18th birthday.

Palace representatives emphasized that this decision was made “to protect the reputation of the monarchy and restore public confidence.”

The UK government also supported the decision, describing it as “a correct and timely step.”
