An Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Airbus A320 aircraft operating the Saint Petersburg–Baku flight returned to Pulkovo Airport due to technical reasons, reports Adyrna National Portal.

According to the company, the flight captain decided to return to the airport for safety reasons after detecting a technical malfunction in the landing gear system.

All safety procedures were followed, and the crew carried out the necessary technical actions before landing. The airport’s rescue services were also on full alert.

The aircraft landed at Pulkovo Airport at 04:43 Baku time. Although the plane slightly veered off the runway upon landing, no one was injured.

All 155 passengers were safely evacuated, and Azerbaijan Airlines dispatched another aircraft to transport them to Baku.
