The announcement of Russian rapper Timati’s upcoming concerts in Astana and Almaty has sparked major controversy on social media. Kazakhstani users have left numerous critical comments, demanding that the concerts be canceled, reports Adyrna.

Users on Threads expressed surprise that artists who have publicly supported the war in Ukraine are still being invited to perform in Kazakhstan. Previously, Kazakhstani audiences opposed a concert by Russian singer Polina Gagarina, which was eventually canceled.

Now, they are calling for Timati’s concerts to be stopped as well, citing his statements in support of the war.

Concert organizer, producer, and Eurostar Entertainment agency owner Aleksey Puchkov also actively joined the discussion. He expressed his frustration with the criticism and made a statement:

“Recently, we managed with great difficulty to secure an agreement for The Weeknd to perform in Almaty. The singer had agreed to give a concert in Kazakhstan in 2026. However, due to recent events and the debates on social media, we are now considering holding the concert in another country,” Puchkov said.

It is worth noting that no final decision has yet been made regarding Timati’s concerts.
