The Russian president, by decree published on the Kremlin’s website, has disbanded two presidential directorates, reports Adyrna national portal.

The Directorate for Cultural and Interregional Relations with Foreign Countries and the Directorate for Cross-Border Cooperation have been replaced by the Directorate for Strategic Partnership and Cooperation.

Previously, Vedomosti reported that these directorates had been overseen by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak. According to the outlet, the new directorate will be headed by First Deputy Sergey Kiriyenko.

It has also been reported that Kozak may soon be appointed as the Russian president’s envoy to the Northwestern Federal District. Current envoy Alexander Gutsan is expected to become Prosecutor General, while Igor Krasnov is seen as a candidate for Chairman of the Supreme Court.

Earlier, The New York Times described Kozak as the only official in Putin’s circle who had openly expressed anti-war views. According to the paper, he supported halting Russia’s war in Ukraine and pursuing peace negotiations.
