On February 20, Amangeldy Turzhanov from Birali village of Amangeldy district, Kostanay region, who was going to herd horses, was hit by a storm. His relatives reported his disappearance to the emergency services on February 21.
A special helicopter from the city of Nursultan Nazarbayev were involved in search and rescue operations, as well as police officers and local residents. However, due to inclement weather, the search did not give any results. Only a week later, Amangeldy Turzhanov was found safe in the border area of Kostanay and Karaganda regions.
"After 2-3 hours I began to realize that I was lost. As the storm raged, I kept looking for a place to hide. For 3 days I rode on my own, exercised and tried to survive. - says the horseman.
The man, who had not eaten for several days, later said that he was still tired, exhausted and could not get up.
On the fifth day, I noticed that my horse was eating grass under the snow, and I wanted to see it too. It was difficult at first, but I had to feed it for two days. In my most difficult moments, I had the image of my mother(not alive) in  my eyes. When I begged her to take me with her, she waved her hands in rejection. Then 15-20 minutes later I noticed the helicopter. I remember the first time my son ran and hugged me.
The horseman, who spent seven days in the desert without food and water, feels as if he has come back to life. He attributes the reason for his death to his honest work, without harming anyone.
As a matter of honor, the herdsman, who lived in the  steppe for a week during the white storm and severe frosts, was not seriously injured and had a slight frostbite on his fingertips. He is currently being treated at a hospital in Zhezkazgan.
