"Nursultan Nazarbayev told how the money allocated for the construction of Turkestan was spent", the national portal "Adyrna" reports. He told this in the documentary "Turkestan: the bridge of the past and the future" on the National Channel "Kazakhstan".
"Where is the money?" is often asked. It was the same when the capital was built. But now one tenge invested in the capital returns three tenge. In the first stage, 350 billions tenge will be spent on Turkestan, "the First President said.
Nazarbayev also noted that half of the planned 160 facilities have been completed. According to him, half of the money needed for the construction of the city seems to be invested by private companies.
During the documentary, the President also expressed his opinion on the transfer of the capital to Turkestan.
"There is no basis for such rumors. We will continue to expand our current capital. Formerly Akmola, with a population of about 200 thousand people, was a huge city with a population of 1.2 million. It was called Nur-Sultan. I did not propose it, but I did not object. Every stone was built under my guidance, every building was built with my participation. Therefore, we will develop our city of Nur-Sultan, ”he said.
