A 16-year-old from Astana, Arsen Kaliyev, has been accepted into the Harvard Undergraduate Ventures-TECH summer program and won a $3,500 scholarship, reports the “Adyrna” national portal, citing digitalbusiness.kz.
Arsen developed an interest in programming at the age of 10, learning both independently and through courses. He has created two IT projects:
myCareAI — a Telegram bot providing psychological support for teenagers, and CardioAlertBot — a bot that helps detect risks of cardiovascular diseases.
These projects were born out of Arsen’s personal needs: the first bot was created for his own use, while the second emerged from monitoring his grandmother, who has a heart condition. Both bots feature simple interfaces and are based on artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
Arsen also founded the FizMat Mentors program, where graduates of the Republican School of Physics and Mathematics (RFMSH) help school students apply to foreign universities. Previously, he earned income through freelance work and invested his earnings into developing his projects.
In the future, Arsen plans to pursue a Computer Science degree at an international university and focus on the fields of artificial intelligence and digital healthcare. He dreams of launching startups that will have a global impact.
