At the Asian Championship held in Almaty, a 10th-grade student from a school in the capital won a gold medal and qualified for the World Championship, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
The Asian Championship brought together the strongest chess players from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Kazakhstan.
In the intense competition for a spot at the World Cup to be held in New Delhi, 10th-grade student Ansat Aldiyar from Temirbek Zhurgenov School-Lyceum No. 70 emerged as the absolute champion.
The 15-year-old chess player will now represent Central Asia at the World Championship in India.
It is worth noting that this is not the talented student’s first success on the world stage — Ansat Aldiyar has previously been a multiple-time prizewinner at both Asian and World Championships.
