At the Asian Games in Harbin, Kazakhstan’s men’s short track team won gold in the 5000-meter relay, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
The team consisted of Denis Nikisha, Adil Galiakhmetov, Mersaid Zhaksybayev, Aibek Nasen, Abzal Azhgaliyev, and Gleb Ivchenko.
This is the first gold medal in Kazakhstan’s short track history at the Asian Games. Previously, the country had only won silver and bronze in this discipline.
As a reminder, the Winter Asian Games are being held in Harbin, China, from February 7 to 14, with athletes from 34 countries competing. The event features six sports, 11 disciplines, and a total of 196 medal sets.
Kazakhstan is represented by 137 athletes competing in 11 sports, defending the honor of their nation.
