In Istanbul, Turkey, Kazakh playwright, writer, and journalist Duman Ramazan was ceremoniously awarded the prize for “Best Playwright of the Turkic World.” This was announced by Kyrgyz writer and TURKSOY Secretary-General Sultan Raev on his Facebook page, according to the national portal “Adyrna.”

“I have been familiar with my brother Duman Ramazan’s plays for a long time. He is a powerful playwright who has deeply explored the nuances of drama. His works, whether on historical or contemporary themes, are thoroughly researched and present internal contradictions and epic conflicts in a uniquely structured style. Duman represents a new perspective, an aesthetic phenomenon, and a new milestone in Kazakh dramaturgy.

In recent years, his historical dramas on the national stage have soared to new heights in modern theater. His plays, such as ‘Kerei – Zhanibek,’ ‘The Dream of Abylai Khan,’ and ‘Zhoshy Khan,’ artistically depict historical perspectives on national values and traditions. The historical drama ‘Zhoshy Khan,’ staged at the Kubanichbai National Drama Theater in Astana, marks a new era in Kazakh culture,” Raev wrote.
