The delivery of weapons from the U.S. to Ukraine was temporarily halted but resumed over the past weekend. This short pause resulted from discussions within the Trump administration regarding its policy on Ukraine. Reuters reported this, according to the national portal “Adyrna.”

The shipments resumed after the White House reversed its initial decision to suspend all aid to Ukraine.

On February 3, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that aid to Ukraine would continue if Ukraine pledged to supply the U.S. with rare earth metals. This issue had previously been mentioned as part of Volodymyr Zelensky’s “victory plan.”

“We are telling Ukraine that they have very valuable rare earth metals. We want to make a deal with Ukraine, under which they will supply us with rare earth metals and other things in exchange for what we are providing them,” Trump said during a press briefing at the White House.

Trump responded affirmatively when asked whether Kyiv should supply resources to Washington and emphasized that he wanted a “guarantee” of rare earth metal deliveries. He claimed that Ukraine was prepared to do so. The White House leader also stated that Kyiv should provide compensation of approximately $300 billion for the aid it has received.

Rare earth metals are a group of 17 elements essential for producing electric motors, electric vehicles, mobile phones, and other electronics, with no viable substitutes.
