Ali Aliyev may become the head coach of the Kazakhstan national football team, reports the Adyrna national portal.
The 44-year-old specialist recently left Petropavl Qyzyljar team. Previously, he coached Zhenis, Shakhter, and Astana youth teams.
Under Aliyev leadership, Qyzyljar finished fifth in the 2023 Premier League and participated in the qualifying stage of the Conference League. The team managed to eliminate Croatia Osijek in the first qualifying round.
It is worth noting that on January 27, the country football federation announced the dismissal of head coach Stanislav Cherchesov. Along with him, the entire coaching staff of the national team also resigned.
The employment contract was terminated by mutual agreement. Stanislav Cherchesov took charge of the Kazakhstan national team in June 2024. Under his guidance, the national team played six matches in the UEFA Nations League, drew with Norway, and earned one point. Additionally, the entire coaching staff of the Kazakhstan national team stepped down. The Kazakhstan Football Federation thanks Stanislav Cherchesov and his staff for their work and wishes them success in their careers,” the statement said.
Initially, it was reported that a list of candidates for the position of head coach was being considered.
