The Central Election Commission of Belarus announced the preliminary results of the presidential election. According to the results, the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, won with 86.82% of the votes, reports Adyrna.
Among his opponents, Sergey Syrankov received the second-highest share, gathering only 3.21% of the votes. The results of other candidates ranged from 1.74% to 3.21%.
According to Belarusian law, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes to win the election.
It is worth noting that the country seventh extraordinary presidential election was held early, between January 21-25. The United States and European countries have stated that they do not recognize the election results.
