For the first time in Kazakhstan, train passengers were given the opportunity to use the internet during their journey, reports the Adyrna national portal, citing the press service of Passenger Transportation JSC.
During the first trip of train №3/4 on the Astana-Almaty route, 500 passengers managed to use the internet via satellite technology.
During the journey, passengers can exchange messages via WhatsApp, watch videos on YouTube, and use other popular internet services. However, access to torrent and streaming download sites is restricted. Modern satellite equipment installed on the locomotive ensures stable and high-speed internet throughout the entire route, the statement said.
This innovation allows passengers to stay connected, work, and relax during the journey. There are plans to introduce internet services on all 15 routes of Talgo trains in the future.
Introducing the internet on trains is an important step in developing passenger transportation. We are working to organize travel according to modern standards and ensure full access to information and communication, said Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Board of Passenger Transportation JSC.
