Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a new law regarding the keeping of wild animals, reports the “Adyrna” national portal.
According to the new law, individuals are prohibited from keeping or housing wild animals outside their natural habitat. Violators of this rule will face fines ranging from 5 to 10 base calculation units (approximately $90 to $290).
If a wild animal kept illegally causes harm to someone’s health or property, the fine can increase up to 50 base calculation units (approximately $1,440).
Additionally, officials responsible for capturing stray animals will also be held accountable if they fail to perform their duties. If negligence leads to harm to a person’s health or property, a fine of 30 base calculation units (approximately $870) will be imposed.
Furthermore, starting this year, the use of wild animals in circuses is completely banned in Uzbekistan.
