Citizens of Latvia got lost in Aktau in Zhetysu region, in the territory of Altynemel National Park, reports the national portal "Adyrna" referring to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"A terrible incident occurred in Akta: two tourists from Latvia lost their bearings and lost contact with the group, which led to a large-scale rescue operation," the report said.
A man and a woman came to Kazakhstan through a travel agency and started their journey in a mountain 44 kilometers from the village of Basshi.
"They encountered a hard-to-reach area, lost contact and endured a dangerous mountain climate," added the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Kerbulak district police, emergency services, foresters and volunteers were mobilized for the search. Helicopters and drones also participated in the operation and helped to survey the area from the air.
As a result, district police inspectors found them.
