Religious radicals were arrested in 4 regions of the country. They operated in the cities of Astana, Shymkent, Atyrau and Zhambyl regions. This was reported by the press service of the NSC today, on July 12, the correspondent of "Adyrna" reported.
"4 Kazakhs and 1 foreigner were detained on suspicion of participating in terrorist activities, organizing extremist activities and recruiting people for this purpose. A lot of religious-extremist literature and other physical evidence were taken from their places of residence," the report said.
According to the NSC, one of the suspects previously participated in hostilities on the territory of a foreign country and was sentenced for it in Kazakhstan.
Information about the regular use of "hard" drugs is being investigated for two others.
