Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. This was announced by the press service of the Kremlin, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

According to information, now Sergey Shoigu will be the secretary of the Security Council.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Decree "On the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation".

Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu should be appointed as the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation," the message reads.

Putin proposed to appoint the former Vice Prime Minister Andrey Belousov as the Minister of Defense.

It should be noted that Sergei Shoigu is the only minister whom the president did not recommend for re-appointment. He has been serving as the Minister of Defense since 2012.
