The National Security Committee has detained suspects involved in extremism, reports "Adyrna" reporter.
"On April 17, the NSC, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained 4 citizens of Kazakhstan in the city of Almaty, Almaty and Zhambyl regions with the coordination of the prosecutor's office. They are suspected of participating in and organizing the actions of a religious-extremist organization banned in the territory of the republic," the report said.
A lot of religious literature and other material evidence were taken during the searches of the residences.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Article 405 of the Criminal Code.
It should be noted that two of the arrested persons were previously convicted of similar crimes.
