The mayor of Satbaev city was suspected of taking a bribe, reports the correspondent of "Adyrna".
Anti-corruption service confirmed this information. Shapagat Aubakirov, who was appointed as akim of Satbaev city only last year, is currently in custody.
"Anti-corruption service, akim of Satbaev city, p. 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. p. 2 confirms that he was detained as part of the pre-trial investigation. In accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information is not subject to public disclosure," the anticor statement said.
Shapagat Aubakirov was appointed as akim of Satbaev in January 2023. The official served as the deputy mayor of the city before the post of mayor.
It was reported on social networks that the mayor was caught while taking 10 million tenge from the contractor.
Information about the official receiving a bribe of 10 million tenge was spread on the Internet.
