Rashid Ayupov, the ex-mayor of Kentau, was sentenced to 10 years. The verdict was issued by the specialized inter-district court for criminal cases of Astana, "Adyrna" correspondent reported.
He will serve his sentence in a medium security institution under Article 28 and Article 312 of the Criminal Code (1997 version).
Ayupov was banned from working in public service. In addition, he was released from criminal liability under Article 177 of the Criminal Code. The court said that the time for criminal prosecution under this article has passed.
