The journalists of the portal Elitar.kz appealed to the DP of the Turkestan region with a request to comment on the theft of a 15-year-old girl by a boyfriend for the purpose of marriage.

A young man stole a schoolgirl and paid her mother 600,000 tenge in dowry. The girl's father filed a complaint with the police. According to him, he lives separately from the girl's mother, but pays alimony. The man said that at the end of 2022, his daughter was kidnapped and taken to the Zhetysay region, where they performed the betashar ceremony. The father learned about the incident from social networks. The father said: he did not give consent to the marriage of his daughter.
The man reminded that kidnapping is a criminal offense. “In addition, sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16 is also a criminal offence.
In this situation, the kidnapping of the bride, according to national traditions, is not a circumstance that excludes criminal liability, since I did not give my consent. Therefore, the fact of committing a crime is confirmed.
Also, in relation to sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, due to the conclusion of a civil marriage, it is not a circumstance excluding criminal liability, since, again, I did not and would not give my consent to marriage, since my daughter has reached the age of only 15 years old and cannot independently make decisions concerning her life. Therefore, the fact of committing a crime is also confirmed," the schoolgirl's father said.
The man asked the police not only to identify the person who kidnapped his daughter and forced her to marry, but also to bring the perpetrator to justice.
