Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tileuberdy announced that Kazakhstan would not join the sanctions against Russia. He gave an interview about this to the Japanese NHK TV channel, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

"We do not join the sanctions against Russia, but at the same time, we adhere to the principle that the economy of the republic will not be used by various enterprises to circumvent restrictive measures," he said.

According to him, Russia and Kazakhstan are connected by close economic relations. He explained that sanctions against Russia would have a negative impact on Kazakhstan's economy.

In addition, he reminded that Kazakhstan had friendly relations with both Moscow and Kyiv.

"Russia and Ukraine are friends of Kazakhstan since long history. President Tokayev is in constant contact with the leaders of both countries and calls on them to come to peace," the minister noted.
