The "Taliban" movement, which seized power in Afghanistan, banned girls from entering the university, the national portal "Adyrna" wrote.
"According to the government's (Taliban) decision, higher education for girls is prohibited until further notice," said the Ministry of Higher Education Decree.
It is noted that now the Afghan authorities have decided not to educate girls in public and private universities, and according to the order, it is necessary to implement it as soon as possible and inform the ministry about the measures taken.
There was an immediate response to this decision at the international level.
UN Secretary General António Guterres recognized this decision as a "very worrying step" and accused the Taliban of "breaking their promise".
"It is difficult to imagine how the country can develop and solve pressing problems without the active participation of women and their education," said the head of the organization.
It should be recalled that after the Taliban came to power in August 2021, women were banned from full secondary education (only primary education up to the sixth grade was allowed), and they were also required to wear burqas on the streets and in public places.
