In Turkmenistan, women can be fined for Botox, eyelash extensions, nails and tattoos, according to the national portal Adyrna.

Consumers of beauty salons pay a fine of 300-500 manats (38,000-64,000 tenge) for violating the law. The masters are even detained for 15 days for their services.

Salon employees complain that they will not be able to work and earn a living if such bans are imposed.

"We have just returned to work after Serdar Berdymukhammedov began lifting quarantine restrictions when he took office. But our work was limited again. And why should we go to the market and beg? Thus, we were in debt during quarantine and have not yet repaid them. The following restrictions are imposed on whether we will work now, ”said the beauty salon staff.

Cosmetic services banned by the Turkmen authorities are a common practice in many parts of the world and are accepted by women without hindrance.

However, for many years in Turkmenistan, women have been banned from using some beauty salons. These bans are usually strengthened when a senior government official, such as the interior minister, is replaced.
