Brazil will not vote on a UN resolution condemning the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and imposing new sanctions on the Russian Federation. This was announced by President Jair Bolsonaro, RIA Novosti reported citing the portal G1.
"Putin will not be sanctioned or accused ... Brazil's voice does not depend on any force. Our free vote will be in this direction, "he said.
Bolsonaro said Brazil wanted peace, but could not tolerate certain consequences in the country.
Asked whether Russia would continue its special operation in the Donbas and maintain its neutrality, the Brazilian president said that a significant proportion of Ukrainians speak Russian and that Russians and Ukrainians're fraternal peoples. He says Putin is not interested in "organizing a massacre" over the incident.
"There are no rumors of mass killings of civilians, no one uses such tactics," he said.
Bolsonaro said he would be guided by practical considerations in making decisions about Russia. According to him, Brazil has close relations with the Russian Federation. Because Brazil depends on Russian fertilizers.
