Today is the 91st anniversary of the poet Mukagali Makatayev.
Mukagali Makatayev was a lyric poet who left a great mark on Kazakh poetry. He was born on February 9, 1931 in the village of Karasaz, Raimbek district.
His real name is Muhammadkali. Mukagali was abbreviated as saying that it would be difficult for a child to say his name. Although he was not appreciated in his time, people consider him a poet of high status for his successors.
Mukagali Makatayev studied at the Faculty of Philology of Kazakh State University from 1948 to 1949. In 1948 he left school and he became the secretary of the village council in Shibut village. In the spring of 1949 he married with his wife Lashin.
In 1949, the newspaper "Soviet Border" published the poet's poems "At the beginning of the stream", "Shepherd boy - Akitai".
Mukagali Makatayev died in 1976 at the age of 45. To this day, his poems and verses are recited by poetry lovers.
