Kazakhstan’s first Minister of Press and Mass Media, Kuanysh Sultanov, has been awarded a state honor, reports “Adyrna” citing the press service of the Akorda.
“By the Decree of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kuanysh Sultanuly Sultanov has been awarded the ‘Otan’ Order for his outstanding contributions to state and public service,” the statement said.
Today, Kuanysh Sultanov turns 80 years old. He is the author of several books, including “Karlygashtar,” “The Youth’s Progress,” “Kazakhstan Komsomol,” “Face to Face
with Time,” “Kazakhstan–China: History and Modernity,” “Kazakhstan–China: Collection of Documents and Materials,” and “The Awakening of a Giant” (essays on China’s reforms).
From 1991 to 1993, he served as the Minister of Press and Mass Media, later as Deputy Prime Minister, and then as Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China, North Korea, Vietnam, and Mongolia. He was also a member of both the Mazhilis and the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament.
