For a week, none of Kazakhstan's TV channels has mentioned the name of the country's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in the latest news, the national portal Adyrna reports citing New Reporter.

"In early January 2022, Kazakhstan experienced the worst shock in 30 years of independence. Therefore, it is not surprising that all TV channels dedicate their programs to the events in different parts of the country, of course, to the "Almaty tragedy". These words were first uttered by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and raised by the media. TV channels talked about the highlights of this tragedy, but none of them ever heard the word "President" on the air ... Except for Tokayev's own synchronicity. "Nursultan Nazarbayev's words were not heard," a statement notes.

The publication came to this conclusion after a detailed review of all the latest news.

It's worth noting that Nazarbayev last appeared before the country in late December 2021, and despite widespread rumors that he would go abroad, according to the authoritative British newspaper The Guardian, he's still fighting for power in Kazakhstan.

According to the Financial Times, 162 people now own 55 percent of Kazakhstan's wealth, many of whom have ties to Nazarbayev.

A number of relatives of the first president have resigned in recent events. Thus, on January 15, Nazarbayev's two sons-in-law - Chairman of the Board of JSC "KazTransOil" Dimash Dossanov and Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Company" KazTransGas "Kairat Sharipbayev were dismissed. Dossanov is the husband of Aliya Nazarbayeva, the youngest daughter of Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and Sharipbayev is the wife of his eldest daughter, Dariga Nazarbayeva. Timur Kulibayev, who married another Nazarbayev's son-in-law, Dinara, the middle daughter of the first president, on January 17, also resigned as head of Atameken. Also on January 17, President Tokayev dismissed Nazarbayev's nephew, Samat Abish, from his post as first deputy chairman of the KNB.

The only one of Nazarbayev's closest relatives in power is his eldest daughter, Dariga Nazarbayeva, a member of the Majilis who, according to the "official" version, is suffering from a coronavirus. On January 17, KazTAG found out that Dariga Nazarbayeva had not applied for resignation, despite rumors.
