Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina won the Australian Open, moving up two places in the WTA world rankings, reports an Adyrna correspondent. In the final, she defeated the world №1, Aryna Sabalenka.
For her victory, Rybakina earned 2,000 ranking points and prize money of approximately 1.5 billion tenge.
Despite losing to Rybakina at the Australian Open, Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka remains at the top of the rankings, while Poland’s Iga Swiatek has retained her position as the world №2.
Following her Australian Open triumph, Rybakina is considered one of the main contenders for the top spots in the rankings. In conversations with journalists, the tennis player has repeatedly emphasized the importance of support from Kazakhstan and the opportunity to represent her country on the global stage.
