An explosion occurred at an enterprise in Russia’s Ryazan region, and a day of mourning was declared in the area, reports Adyrna.

The incident took place on August 15 at the “Elastik” plant’s munitions workshop in the Shilovo district of the Ryazan region. According to the latest data, the death toll has reached 11 people.

“Due to the tragic event, August 18 has been declared a day of mourning,” said the region’s governor, Pavel Malkov.

He noted that state flags would be flown at half-mast throughout the region, and cultural institutions, television and radio companies, as well as organizations, were advised not to hold entertainment events.

As a result of the incident, 130 people were injured, 29 of whom were hospitalized. All victims received the necessary medical assistance.

In addition, cleanup operations are currently underway. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on violations of industrial safety regulations.
