President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports “Adyrna” national portal.

The Head of State congratulated his counterpart on the outcomes of the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Anchorage. In his view, these talks allowed the American side to better understand Russia’s position regarding Ukraine and contributed to finding common ground on this complex issue.

“Kasym-Jomart Tokayev considers the summit in Alaska to be an important event in terms of strengthening Russia’s positions on the international stage and enhancing mutual understanding. He also noted that the visit was skillfully organized, which carries great political significance in the current tense situation,” the Akorda statement reads.

For his part, Putin briefed the President of Kazakhstan on some specific aspects of the negotiations in Alaska.

In conclusion, Tokayev expressed gratitude to the Russian leader for constructive cooperation in the energy sector.
