The U.S. State Department has temporarily suspended the issuance of all categories of visas for people from Gaza, Adyrna national portal reports, citing DW.

This decision will remain in effect until a full and thorough review is completed.

According to the department, in recent times only a small number of temporary visas have been issued to residents of the enclave on medical and humanitarian grounds. For instance, in 2025 alone, more than 3,800 B1/B2 visitor visas were granted to citizens holding documents from the Palestinian National Authority. In May alone, 640 visas were issued.

The Council on American–Islamic Relations condemned the decision, calling it a deliberate act of cruelty by the Donald Trump administration. Meanwhile, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund stated that such a move restricts access for severely ill and injured children from Gaza to receive medical treatment in the United States.

It should be noted that the Trump administration is also considering significantly tightening travel restrictions. This initiative could result in banning entry to the U.S. for citizens of an additional 36 countries.
