President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan held the 5th meeting of the Kazakhstan–Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, reports “Adyrna.”

During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized that Turkey has long been a brotherly, closely related, and kindred nation, highlighting that Kazakh–Turkish cooperation, based on shared historical and spiritual values, continues to develop steadily in the spirit of an expanded strategic partnership.

“We are committed to continuing this noble path and raising our mutual ties to even greater heights. Mr. President, I highly value the talks we just had in a smaller format. We reaffirmed our intention to expand our cooperation. We have both the potential and the will to do so. A solid contractual and legal framework has been established between our countries, with over 60 bilateral agreements and treaties. Today, we will also sign several new bilateral agreements,” said President Tokayev.

The council discussed increasing the volume of mutual trade. Last year, bilateral trade turnover reached $5 billion. There is significant potential to further increase this figure. According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan is ready to supply at least 34 types of products to the Turkish market, with an estimated value close to $1 billion. He also emphasized the importance of expanding the range of Turkish imports into Kazakhstan.

Both sides acknowledged the crucial role of the transport and logistics sector in increasing trade volume. President Tokayev highlighted the importance of developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and stated that Kazakhstan is interested in attracting Turkish investment for the construction of modern railways, inland ports, freight terminals, and shipbuilding projects.
