The main European allies of Ukraine – French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk – arrived in Kyiv on an official visit on May 10, according to the national portal “Adyrna,” citing the BBC. Confirming their journey to Kyiv, Macron posted a joint photo of the four leaders on social media, with a caption written in French, English, German, and Polish. “We are on our way to Kyiv. For Ukraine, for Europe,” the post read. During the visit, the four leaders are expected to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and call on Russia to implement a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump also spoke with Zelensky and officially urged Russia to cease hostilities on May 8. According to Reuters, if Russia rejects the proposal, new sanctions from Western countries may be imposed. Germany’s new Chancellor Friedrich Merz also stated that an agreement might be reached in the coming days.
