President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Tim Gitzel, President of Cameco Corporation, reports Adyrna.

The President’s working visit to New York began with a meeting with the head of the Canadian transnational company. The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the uranium mining sector.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that Cameco has long been a reliable partner of the national company Kazatomprom. Since starting operations in Kazakhstan, the company has invested over $500 million and contributed to technology transfer. According to the Head of State, Kazakhstan is entering a new stage in energy development and plans to build three nuclear power plants in the future. The country is also interested in innovative approaches used in the nuclear industry, the September 21, 2025 statement from Akorda said.

It was also noted that Tim Gitzel informed the President about the current operations and plans of the Inkai joint venture, which has been developing a deposit in the Turkistan region for a quarter of a century.

Earlier, it was reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had begun his working visit to New York.
