Kazakh students won six medals at the international olympiad

The national team of Kazakhstan achieved outstanding results at one of the world’s most prestigious subject-based competitions — the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2025) held in Australia, according to “Adyrna” national portal.

The competition brought together nearly 650 of the best young mathematicians from 112 countries.

As a result, Kazakh students won four silver and two bronze medals.

The silver medalists are Miron Yurkevich (Grade 12) and Amirlаn Amanzholov (Grade 11) from Haileybury Almaty School, Margulan Sharel (Grade 11) from Spectrum International School in Astana, and Amir Sakhіpov (Grade 11) from the Republican Physics and Mathematics School in Almaty.

The bronze medals were awarded to Yerasyl Altynbek (Grade 10) from Nurorda School in Almaty and Yerkanat Kenshilik (Grade 11) from the “Bilim-Innovation” Boarding Lyceum in the Aktobe region.

The scientific supervisors of the national team are PhD holder Asylbek Isakhov and International Olympiad winner Kanat Satylkhanov.

The International Mathematical Olympiad is one of the most prestigious subject-based competitions in the world. Held since 1959, the IMO is part of the seven International Science Olympiads. Kazakhstan has been participating in this competition since 1993. Over the years, the national team has won 16 gold, 55 silver, 81 bronze medals, and 29 honorable mentions.
