President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has signed a law that imposes fines on those who spread false information in the media and on the internet, according to Adyrna.

“The President has signed amendments to the Code of Offenses of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the official statement said.

The amendments introduce fines for spreading false information via mass media or online platforms. Individuals found guilty by court decision will face a fine of 20,000 Kyrgyz soms (approximately 119,000 tenge), while legal entities will be fined 65,000 soms (about 388,000 tenge).

“The purpose of the law is to ensure information security and protect citizens’ right to receive accurate and objective information,” the official statement added.
