A helicopter crashed in the Himalayan region of northern India, according to the national portal “Adyrna,” citing ANI agency.
On June 15 at 5:20 AM, a helicopter belonging to Aryan Aviation, flying from the village of Kedarnath toward Guptkashi, crashed in a forested area between Gaurikund and Sonprayag. There were seven people on board—six passengers and one pilot. All of them died in the crash, including an infant.
Preliminary reports suggest that bad weather may have caused the accident. The pilot reportedly noticed a sudden change in weather and tried to steer the helicopter out of the gorge. After the crash, the helicopter caught fire.
Among the victims were three members of
the Jaiswal family from Maharashtra state. Local residents were the first to discover the crash site and alerted the authorities. Rescue operations were carried out by national and state-level disaster response teams, and all the bodies were recovered by 8:55 AM. The identities of the deceased will be officially confirmed through DNA analysis.
This is the fifth helicopter crash reported near Kedarnath in the past six weeks, during which 13 people have died.
It’s also worth noting that on June 12, an Air India plane crashed in India with over 240 people on board. One survivor was found in seat 11A, according to police.
